Standard Chartered's former global head of private banking, Michael Benz, has joined consulting firm Synpulse as senior advisor in Hong Kong.
Synpulse consults financial services providers on business operations, mergers and acquisitions and technical implementation.
Benz left Standard Chartered Private Bank in 2015 after two years, and was replaced by Barclays' Didier von Daeniken.
'Michael’s appointment is timely as Synpulse reaches its critical size of 100 consultants in Hong Kong and Singapore. His breadth of expertise and experience in wealth management will support our next level of growth and regional expansion,' said Yves Roesti, partner Apac.
Before joining Standard Chartered, Benz was the Asia Pacific CEO of BOA / Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and worked on the integration of the business from Merrill Lynch into Julius Baer where he was later appointed chairman for Asia in 2013.
Prior to that, he was regional head of products & services in UBS Wealth Management, leading the build-up of their product platform across investments, financing and wealth planning in Asia Pacific.
He has over twenty years of experience in private banking, asset management and treasury.
