Asian equity specialist Mike Sell has joined Alquity Investment Management from F&C, the London-based boutique has announced.
Sell becomes the second high profile fund manager to join Alquity in recent months.
This follows the hiring of Barings’ former head of global emerging markets equity, Roberto Lampl, who joined in December as head of Latin American investments.
In his new capacity, Sell joins Alquity as its head of Asian investments, while also running two new strategies.
These new funds will cover the Asia equity market and the Indiansubcontinent. Development of the two funds is part of Alquity’s efforts to move beyond being solely focused on the African equity market.
Sell brings with him almost 20 years of experience in the emerging markets, which includes time at Barings before joining Nevsky Capital as a partner. Here he focused on the broader Asian region.
Commenting on the appointment, Paul Robinson, CEO of Alquity, said: ‘We are thrilled about Mike Sell joining the Alquity team as he will play an integral role in our future expansion plans, opening up areas of Asia and the Indian Subcontinent to our unique investment approach.’
