Ex-Safra Sarasin SG chief joins HSBC PB

HSBC Private Banking has appointed Benedikt Maissen as its new market head for Indonesia based in Singapore.

Maissen joins from J. Safra Sarasin where he was previously the Singapore chief executive for about 2.5 years. The executive left the Swiss private bank in January.

Reporting directly to Philip Kunz, HSBC private bank’s Southeast Asia head, Maissen will be responsible for business development and client engagement.

Commenting on the announcement, Kunz said: ‘The Singapore booking centre is a core strategic market for HSBC Private Banking to drive substantive global growth for the business.

'Strategically located at the nexus between Asia and other global markets, where personal and corporate wealth are fast growing, the opportunity is strong and compelling.

‘Benedikt brings depth of knowledge and experience in supporting our Indonesia market and will be instrumental in growing it.’
