Standard Chartered Private Bank has grown its investment advisory team in Singapore with three new appointments in the past four months, Citywire Asia can reveal.
In February, the bank hired Ryan Lim as investment advisor, primarily to cover the Malaysian market. Lim joins from BMO Private Banking where he was a team lead, investment advisor in Singapore for over three and a half years.
The emerging markets-focused bank has also hired Skand Bakshi and Gautam Chadda as investment advisors to serve the non-resident Indian (NRI) market as well as Malaysia and Asean.
Prior to this, Bakshi was an investment counsellor at Bank of Singapore. He joined the private bank from Citibank, where he was a product specialist in 2014.
Chadda was previously based in the London office working as director and senior investment advisor. He relocated to Singapore in January.
All three advisors will report to Olaf van Duijnhoven, executive director and team lead, investment advisory.
‘The investment advisory team is growing based on demand from hiring new bankers and on-boarding new clients. It’s basically across all teams, but especially for our Global South Asian Community [GSAC/NRI] market,’ said van Duijnhoven.
‘We will continue hiring investment advisors through 2018, subject to demand and the market environment,’ he added.
