Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed Simon Coxeter as managing director, head of investment solutions, Asia, effective May 4.
Prior to joining FT, Coxeter was a principal for the investment arm of consultancy firm Mercer, where he evaluated multi-asset and equity strategies.
The appointment is in line with a strong market interest for solutions products from both Asian institutions and high-net-worth individuals, according to Mark Browning, managing director for Asia Pacific.
The new hire, with more than 15 years of investment experience in the industry, is responsible for developing and managing multi-asset, multi-strategy investment solutions for institutional and retail clients in Asia, excluding Japan and Australia.
Based in Singapore, he will work with clients to create appropriate “solutions”, consisting of multi-asset portfolios that leverage both fund-of-fund structures and direct investing through ETFs or other structured vehicles, to meet their needs for complex, customised portfolios.
Coxeter will partner with distribution channels across the firm on all “solutions”-related to client opportunities across the region, leveraging insights from FT’s various investment management groups to create diversified outcome-oriented portfolios focused on risk-adjusted performance and tailored to client needs.
Commenting on the new hire, Ed Perks, CIO of multi-asset solutions, said: 'The continued expansion of FT’s solutions platform remains a key strategic initiative for our business and I am delighted Simon has joined us in this exciting period.'
Before joining Mercer in 2010, Coxeter managed the Singapore operations of a European real estate private equity firm.
In 2006, he co-founded AsiaSource Capital, an alternatives investment boutique based in Singapore and New York, where he launched and managed an Asia-focused fund-of-hedge-funds.
Earlier in his career, Coxeter worked in both Hong Kong and London as an equity analyst.
