ING Investment Management has hired two managers for its emerging market equity team with one of them appointed as the new head of the specialist investment unit.
Ashish Goyal joins the firm from Eastsprings Investments, where he was chief investment officer for Asia, and assumes the role of head of emerging markets equity.
In his new capacity, Goyal, who will be based in Singapore from October 1, will be charged with expanding ING IM’s emerging markets capabilities.
He brings with him over 20 years of market experience across a host of different roles and will report to Eric Siegloff, deputy CIO for ING IM.
In addition, ING IM has also added former Griffin Capital Management fund manager Robert Holmes who will join in September as a senior portfolio manager reporting to Goyal.
In his new role, Holmes will be based in ING IM’s London office and will assume responsibility for the company’s emerging Europe strategies.
Holmes spent seven years with Griffin Capital Management, which was purchased by Renaissance Asset Management in 2012. His Eastern European Allocation fund closed in April of this year after due to a lack of investor demand.
Commenting on the new hires, Eric Siegloff said: ‘Both Ashish and Robert have excellent track records and these appointments give us the opportunity to further strengthen our emerging market equity capabilities.’
