Inflows into the emerging markets global local currency bond sector extends into its 13th consecutive month in January 2018. Net new money into the sector since January 2017 amounted to $20.2 billion.

The BGF Emerging Markets local currency bond fund collected $4.0 billion net new assets in 2017. Coupled with inflows of $1.2 billion in January 2018, the fund size swelled to $6.5 billion as of end January this year. The fund is co-managed by three Citywire + rated managers - Sergio Trigo Paz, Laurent Develay, and Michal Wozniak.

In January 2018, the Asia Pacific Ex-Japan equity sector gathered net new money of $4932.8 million, nearly four times more than the inflows it saw in 2017 ($1242.5million).

The JPMorgan Asia equity dividend fund garnered $314.6million in January, its first glimpse of net new assets since August last year.

2017 was a year of redemptions for US equities. The sector saw net outflows of $5.8 billion last year and was the most heavily redeemed sector in 2017. However, investors have shown renewed confidence in the asset class this year with total injections of $5.1 billion in January.

Net inflows into the global equity sector totalled $7.4 billion in January 2018, more than nine times the previous month ($819.6 million). 76.0% of funds in the sector drew in net new money during the month, with each fund averaging inflows of $54.2 million.

The global emerging market equities ended 2017 on a negative note with net withdrawals of $854.2 million in December. Investors' appetite for the sector has since been rekindled - the sector saw injections of $10.2 billion in January.

Of the 115 funds in the sector, 91.3% (105 funds) saw net inflows in January 2018. JPM Emerging Markets Equity fund led the pack with net new money of $1.2 billion, lifting its assets under management to $8.2 billion as of end January.
