Most Heavily Redeemed Sectors: Europe Equity

Citywire Asia presents the most heavily redeemed funds in the European Equity sector.

As of end October, funds registered for sale in Singapore and/Hong Kong have seen YTD net outflows of US$23.8 billion.

In this series, we examine the top five sectors which have seen the most YTD redemptions. We end with the sector that saw the heaviest redemptions this year – European equity.

The analysis is based on global fund flows experienced by funds available for sale in Singapore and/or Hong Kong from January to end October 2016.

All flow figures are in US dollars.

5. Fidelity FAST Europe A-ACC-EUR

Managers: Anas Chakra

YTD net flows: -$901.1 million

With the exception of January 2016 when it drew $6.4 million in net subscriptions, the Fidelity FAST Europe A fund has seen nine straight months of outflows since February 2016.

4. Fidelity Funds - European Growth A-EUR (SGD)

YTD net flows: -$1004.6 million

The Fidelity Funds – European Growth fund witnessed its largest redemption of $567 million in July 2016.

3. UBS (Lux) Eq S - European Opp Unconstr (EUR) P-acc

YTD net flows: -$1475.3 million

The fund attracted a net inflow of $24.1 million in February 2016, and has seen eight straight consecutive months of redemptions since.

2. BGF European A2 EUR

YTD net flows: -$2190.1 million

As of end October, the BGF European A2 EUR fund had yet to attract net new money this year. Its highest outflow was in Q2 when investors withdrew $934.1 million between April and June 2016.

YTD net flows: -$2452.3 million

On average, the fund has seen monthly net withdrawals of $245.2 million between January and October this year. Net redemptions were the highest in July 2016 at $453.6 million.
