Pioneer Investments intends to launch four new funds covering both equity and fixed income as it attempts to gain a greater foothold in the emerging markets, Citywire Global can reveal.
The four new funds mark the first major development since Dublin-based Pioneer established its much-heralded emerging market hub in London last year.
The firm had not yet revealed details of the corresponding fund range but confirmed to Citywire Global on Tuesday it intends to launch the following four funds over the course of the year:
- Pioneer Funds – Emerging Market Corporate High Yield Bond fund
- Pioneer Funds – Emerging Market Corporate Bond fund
- Pioneer Funds – Emerging Markets Equity Unconstrained
- Pioneer Funds – Frontier Markets Equity
The two bond funds will be handed to Euro Stars AAA-rated EM bond expert Greg Saichin. Meanwhile, Sean Taylor, who joined Pioneer Investments in November last year will head up the teams managing the two equity funds.
The proposed fund launches come shortly after Saichin told Citywire Global he and his team were spying greater opportunities in the emerging market corporate debt sector.
While the Frontiers Market Equity fund is expected to be long-only, the Emerging Markets Equity Unconstrained fund will be a long/short equity fund and invest across the emerging market sector, including Russia.
