Ken Madea will take over responsibility for the Japanese equities team on 1 October 2017. He has managed the Schroder ISF Japanese Opportunities fund since its launch in December 2016.
A spokesperson for the asset manager confirmed that there will be no change in his management duties on the fund.
Ken Maeda has worked at Schroders since 2001. He joined the company from Nomura Asset Management where he had worked as a Japanese equity fund manager since 1997.
Commenting on the appointment, Nicky Richards, global head of equities at Schroders, said: ‘Ken has been with Schroders for almost 16 years and his commitment to delivering our clients strong investment performance has been unwavering. We believe the team will continue to flourish under Ken’s leadership.’
Over three years to the end of May 2017, the Schroders ISF Japanese Opportunities fund returned 43.75% in Japanese yen terms.
This compares to a rise of 38.77% by its Citywire-assigned benchmark the Topix TR over the same time frame.
