SG robo advisor launches Chinese platform

Digital advisory platform CONNECT is being introduced in a simplified Chinese version, reportedly making it the first robo-advisor in Singapore to be entirely in the language.

Developed by wealth manager Crossbridge Capital, the platform’s website gives Mandarin-speaking customers the ability to transact and manage portfolios completely in simplified Chinese.

‘As we continue to expand the CONNECT offering we have overhauled the UI [user interface] to better handle multiple language choices,’ said Charlie O’ Flaherty, partner and head of digital strategy and distribution at Crossbridge Capital.

‘Simplified Chinese was a natural first choice for us in order to accommodate Singapore clients who may be more comfortable transacting in their mother tongue,’ he told Citywire Asia.

Ethnic Chinese make up the largest community in the city-state, with English and Mandarin as the most commonly used languages.

Aside from acquiring new customers in Singapore, Crossbridge has been actively looking to expand CONNECT into other markets in the region through new hires and partnerships.

The platform, which uses actively managed certificates for investment portfolios, was launched in 2016 in Singapore to serve accredited investors and US expatriates. Its portfolios generated 31.43% net of fees in 2017.
