Value Partners has expanded its presence in the international funds market by launching its global emerging market equity fund in a Ucits format.
The Dublin-domiciled fund, which is aimed at UK and European investors, uses Value Partners’ ‘SMART’ alpha/beta investment process, which combines quant and local asset management knowledge.
It is overseen by Kenny Tjan, who oversees the firm’s Singapore business and was formerly CIO of Mestiq Capital. He is supported on the fund by former Mestiq Capital colleague Martha Reyes.
Hong Kong-based Value Partners said the fund will reflect a high-conviction, fundamental, bottom-up stock-picking process, while generating more stable alpha through a systematic and consistent portfolio construction framework.
The strategy aims to achieve consistent outperformance of 5% on average over five years.
Commenting on the launch, Tjan said: ‘Most EM teams tend to be US/Europe-centric, despite the growing dominance of Asia and China in the GEM indices. Value Partners’ Asia-centric team enables us to build a strong understanding of Asian and EM economies and hence cement a competitive edge.’
Value Partners Group is one of Asia’s largest independent asset management firms, with assets under management of $16.5 billion as of 30 September 2017.
