Sometimes it can be hard to know what a fund manager really thinks or gain any additional insight beyond the fund factsheet. However, social media can give managers a way to respond to real time events and even a chance to show off what they do outside fund management.

While compliance can limit what some fund managers are allowed to say, other are able to broadcast their views without restraint on Twitter. In this gallery, @cwselector highlights which managers to follow.

Emre Akcakmak, East Capital - @akcakmak

The frontier markets specialist Emre Akcakmak may have stepped down from his funds and relocated to Dubai, but he still gives an interesting insight to markets that are hard to get a handle on. Akackmak tweets about everything from the political outlook in Kenya to Vietnamese food.

Citywire A-rated Rogoff gives his views on technology companies and tweets pictures from events that he has attended. Evans mostly retweets articles on technology themes.
