Transamerica Life Bermuda has hired a former Credit Suisse Trust executive to lead its Singapore business.
Nicholas Kourteff joins the high-net-worth (HNW) insurance provider after serving as head of product management insurance solutions at Credit Suisse since 2016.
He replaces Winson Yap, who exited the firm in July after completing two years in the role.
Transamerica Life Bermuda is part of the Aegon Group, an international insurance, pensions and asset management company with headquarters in the Netherlands.
It provides universal and term life insurance plans to HNW individuals and families in Singapore.
As Singapore CEO, Kourteff will report to Marc Lieberman, global CEO of Transamerica Life Bermuda.
At Credit Suisse, he was responsible for growing the HNW insurance business in Southeast Asia, working closely with the private banking division.
He was in-charge of front-to-back insurance distribution, operational efficiency, as well as business framework and governance.
He also led third-party relationship management with broker partners and life insurance carriers.
Prior to that, he was an executive director, product management and distribution at UBS based in Singapore.
Kourteff joined UBS in 2007, working for the wealth planning division in Asia and overseeing the growth and development of the life insurance and financial planning businesses in the course of his career.
He has over 24 years of experience in the financial services industry and has held senior management positions at AXA, Winterthur Life as well as Credit Suisse Private Banking.
