Hong Kong-headquartered Raffles Family Office has expanded its investment committee with three new hires, Citywire Asia can exclusively reveal.
Benn Ng joins the multi-family office as managing director and head of Southeast Asia, while Desmond Cheung and Lawrence Chan have been hired as senior portfolio managers for equities and fixed income, respectively.
Based in Singapore, Ng has moved to Raffles from Indosuez Wealth Management, where he was Asia head of foreign exchange (FX) for one year.
Prior to that, he was Asia head of FX at French bank Crédit Industriel et Commercial (CIC), which was acquired by Indosuez in 2017. Ng has also worked at Citibank, UOB and Chase Manhattan Bank in the past.
At Raffles, Ng has been tasked with managing FX investments for clients as well as growing the firm’s Singapore office.
Cheung, meanwhile, has been hired by Raffles’ Hong Kong unit. He was most recently an equity portfolio manager at BlackRock, where he worked for 12 years. Prior to that, he was a credit and relationship manager at Hang Seng Bank, having first joined the firm in 1997.
Based in Hong Kong, Chan previously worked at Taiping Assets Management (Hong Kong), where he last held the role of CIO for fixed income
Chan joined Taiping in 2013, and was responsible for managing global fixed income portfolios for the firm’s parent company, China Taiping Insurance Group.
Raffles’ investment committee is currently led by managing partner Ray Tam, and includes two traders: Perry Pang and Cannis Chung.
