Lombard Odier hires digital-focused equity PM

Lombard Odier hires digital-focused equity PM

Lombard Odier Investment Managers has appointed Francois Meunier as its London-based equity portfolio manager.

In this newly-created role, Meunier will focus on finding global investment opportunities centered on disruption and innovation broadly across sectors, as well as up and down the value chain.

Meunier will report to Didier Rabattu, Switzerland-based head of equities.

As digital disruption and innovation are key drivers of a sustainability revolution that is underway, Meunier will help Lombard Odier identify companies that can deliver sustainable excess economic returns for its clients in the long-term, Rabattu said.

Meunier joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was the head of technology equity research since 2010. As part of the role, he was also a strategic advisor to the UK Prime Minister Downing Street Office and France’s Ministry of Economy.

During his time at Morgan Stanley, Meunier established a franchise around digitalisation and automation, the internet of things, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Meunier was head of technology equity research at JPMorgan Cazenove for six years.

In Asia, businesses and governments have been splashing big on digital transfromation.

The Asia-Pacific region is expected to outspend the US' $437 billion bill on digital technologies in 2018, according to Singapore's Economic Development Board.
