Loomis Sayles has named Citywire + rated Aziz Hamzaogullari as chief investment officer of the growth equity strategies (GES) team.
In his new capacity, Hamzaogullari continues his strategic oversight of the entire GES platform.
The company said the appointment is in recognition of Hamzaogullari’s valuable thought leadership at Loomis Sayles, as well as the significant contribution that GES has made to the Loomis Sayles equity platform.
Under his leadership, GES platform assets have grown to over $52 billion as of end-September, from $2 billion in 2010.
The GES team’s assets account for nearly 20% of Loomis Sayles’ total assets under management (AUM) and more than 80% of total equity AUM.
More importantly, the GES team has advanced not only the Loomis Sayles equity platform, but also the Loomis Sayles brand globally.
The GES team is now managing assets for investors in Asia, Europe, as well as North America and South America.
As the founder of the team’s investment philosophy, Hamzaogullari has developed and successfully implemented the alpha thesis that defines the research framework and underpins the success of all GES portfolios.
He is the portfolio manager of the Loomis Sayles large-cap, global, and all-cap growth strategies.
Hamzaogullari joined Loomis Sayles in 2010 from Evergreen Investments, where he was a senior portfolio manager.
