Pimco expands FX capabilities with two new hires

Pimco has hired two foreign exchange portfolio managers to further its expertise in global currency markets, the company has announced.

Adam Iqbal will join the firm in November and focus on foreign exchange options. He will work with the Pimco portfolio management team on global foreign exchange and specialist volatility strategies.

Iqbal joins Pimco from Goldman Sachs, where he was EMEA head of G10 options. In his role he traded short and long dated G10 foreign exchange options.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, he worked at Barclays Investment Bank as a trader of short dated foreign exchange options.

Meanwhile, Pimco has also appointed Michael Davidson, who will specialise in emerging market local rates and currencies.

Prior to joining the firm in September, he traded Polish and Hungarian rates for HSBC and central European rates for Barclays Capital.

Commenting on the appointments, Andrew Balls, CIO of global fixed income at the firm, said: ‘Adam and Michael are excellent additions to Pimco’s foreign exchange and emerging market teams as the firm continues to pursue compelling investment opportunities across the globe.’
