Pimco hires ex-UBS asset allocation head

Global fixed income asset manager Pimco has hired Erin Browne as managing director and portfolio manager in a bid to grow its asset allocation capabilities.

Bringing 16 years of experience to the position, Browne joins from UBS Asset Management, where she was head of asset allocation, driving the firm’s macro research and capital market assumptions, plus tactical and strategic asset allocation views.

Prior to that, she worked as head of macro investments at UBS O’Connor, and also held positions at Point72Asset Management, Citigroup, Moore Capital Management, and Lehman Brothers.

Based in Newport Beach, California, at Pimco Browne will report directly to Mihir Worah, who is the managing director and chief investment officer for asset allocation and real return.

She will partner with other portfolio managers, including Stephen Chang, who was hired by the Hong Kong office this April to manage Asian portfolios and develop the business in Asia.

She will also work with executive vice presidents Wesley Chan and Bill Smith on equity strategies and senior vice president Amit Agarwal, specialising in high yield and macro credit strategies.

In addition, Browne will work alongside senior members of Pimco’s asset allocation team, including portfolio manager Geraldine Sundstrom, who is responsible for growing the firm’s tactical multi-asset strategies.

Pimco said it has hired more than 700 new employees over the last two years, including over 150 investment professionals globally.
